Distribution centers
The resulting assessments can be used, for example, to compare DCs or suppliers. The assessment results are recorded digitally. With the help of a dashboard, clients and users can analyze this data and thus make trends and developments visible in a simple manner.
During DC visits, Kiwa can also check aspects that directly or indirectly influence quality. For example storage conditions on site (temperature, humidity, separate storage of ethylene-sensitive products, etc.), but also storage periods, throughput speeds and FiFo.
Stores
During visits to stores, the fresh produce store shelf is assessed by a Kiwa employee. The focus is on the quality of the various product groups. Each assessment also yields a quality rating, which is related to the consumer's expectations.
In addition to the quality and freshness of the fruit and vegetables on the shop shelf, the assessment usually also includes the following aspects: presentation and care, filling level, ‘Best before’ coding and FiFo. Storage conditions and store stocks are also part of the assessment.
The results are provided in a report to the client or to shop or fresh food supervisors and the shops themselves. Using a dashboard, the data from the report can be edited and analyzed, for example to visualize trends and developments and to compare store performance with that of other branches.
It is also possible to visit stores of other formulas anonymously to make observations on the fresh produce store shelf. The data can be compared in a benchmark with that of the own formula. Kiwa also has extensive experience in practical training of employees in distribution centers or stores.
Grower visits
Growers, growers associations and trading companies that ship their products directly from growers can use Kiwa once or periodically to monitor the quality of fresh produce. As an independent third party, Kiwa can also rule on conflicts between growers and buyers.
Sampling Fresh produce
To assess whether fresh fruits and vegetables comply with food safety requirements, these products are regularly sampled and analyzed. The focus is on residues of plant protection products, as well as the possible presence of heavy metals, nitrates and microbiological contamination. As an independent inspection body, Kiwa carries out sampling of potatoes, fruits and vegetables (Dutch: aardappelen, groente en fruit (AGF)) within various monitoring and quality systems in the supply chain.
