To mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023, we spoke to four inspiring Kiwa colleagues about their roles and career experiences as women, their views of the IWD theme #EmbraceEquity, and their advice to other women considering a similar career.

As we welcome in the new year, we also welcome new names for two of our business units to more accurately reflect the services they offer.

This autumn Kiwa has started two new projects in Portugal for two Portuguese gas district system operators: H2REN for REN Portgás and Retrofit for Floene. In commission of these two operators, Kiwa will assess the suitability of their gas distribution networks for hydrogen. 

The government has adjusted the 2021 RHI Regulation regarding the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme. This adjustment is made in the UK Statutory Instrument 2022 No. 1096, The Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2022.

The Kiwa Energy team had reason to celebrate following the commissioning of our local hydrogen production plant and labs. This involved Hydrogen flowing down the pipes for the first time from our Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) to our new hydrogen lab. We invited a number of influential people in the industry to join us at our offices in Cheltenham on 8 September and have a tour of the SMR.

We are pleased to announce our first 1-day, Hydrogen awareness course for Gas Installers, here at Kiwa in Cheltenham on Thursday, 13th October.

Kiwa’s team of experts is attending the Gastech exhibition and conference from 5 – 8 September. We will present our wide range of services at the single largest global meeting place for the natural gas, LNG, hydrogen and low carbon-solutions.

Lee Shaw, our Head of Quality, attended the first in-person certificate presentation event held at UKAS HQ since the pandemic.

The Government announced changes to UKCA marking for products on 20th June. Here at Kiwa we are currently analysing the new guidance to fully understand the implications for manufacturers. We will update our website as soon as we have confirmed our interpretation.
