Kiwa builds a new test hall for CE certification of sprinklers
Kiwa is expanding its fire safety and security services! In Zaltbommel (the Netherlands) the construction of a brand-new test hall is in development, specifically for testing and certifying sprinklers according to EN 12259-1. With this expansion, we will soon be able to test sprinklers so that they can be provided with a CE-marking.
Why this new test hall?
To obtain a CE-marking, sprinklers must meet strict European requirements. This means extensive testing of performance under various pressures and temperatures, and durability. Until now, we only carried out tests on older sprinklers in Zaltbommel, but soon manufacturers will be able to come to us for the full testing program required for CE certification.
What does this mean for manufacturers?
The CE-marking is mandatory for selling sprinklers in Europe. In our laboratories, manufacturers can have their sprinklers tested in accordance with EN 12259-1. If the sprinklers successfully pass the test, Kiwa will issue a certificate which manufacturers can use to bring their products to market with confidence. The manufacturer thereby demonstrates that their sprinklers comply with all European standards and may be traded freely within the European Union..
When?
As soon as the new test hall is ready, we will begin executing these extensive tests. With this expansion, Kiwa is taking another step forward in making the European sprinkler market safer and more reliable.
Stay tuned for more information on the opening of the new test laboratory.
